When I update the maps?

I have 2 different nuvi units and the 1st time I updated the maps using lifetime maps, It downloaded the maps twice once for each unit.
My question is... does it have to do it that way or can I just download it once and install it on both units?
Look for the Install Options button
The "Install Options" button gives you the choice of saving the map download for installation to multiple units without re-downloads -- as well as giving you the option of installing the map and Mapsource to computer, choosing where the computer's installation files should be placed, and selecting the map coverage if your unit can't hold all of North America.
Just look at the lower left corner of one of the early installation windows for "Install Options" and click it.

Ok, got it to download to the desktop. Now, how do I load it on the nuvi?
On your computer go to
On your computer go to start,programs,Garmin and click on map install last.Follow instructions from there.

when I use the map install
when I use the map install the only thing that I can figure out is to click on every state that I want to install. Nothing to allow install of all USA states!
is this right?
How much space on unit?
I see you have a 200 according to your account.Did you get message about not enough space to install map to unit?I believe that is the problem.If that is the problem you will need to install certain areas to unit and the rest on sd card.
