3760 LMT

Purchased one a few weeks ago to replace my 255W. So far so good.

Over the Top...

Way, way, way to much to spend now days for a portable GPS.

Bobby....Garmin 2450LM

with all that are less

It's difficult to justify a standalone GPS for much more than $200.

Doesnt the LMT mean that

Doesnt the LMT mean that lifetime maps and traffic is included. It adds some value, not sure if I could justify the $379.99 however (at least not to my wife), who is sick of all my GPSr!

I love my Garmin Oregon 400t, Nuvi 200, Nuvi 360, Forerunner 405.

LMT = Lifetime maps and

LMT = Lifetime maps and traffic.

.

So how does this $380 model compare to the older models selling for $100? Can you seriously tell me this new model is worth spending 3 times the money?

The simple fact is Garmin continually pushes out "new" models so they can impose a huge markup in the price.

You're paying for the

You're paying for the thinnest model on the market and for a great glass screen with Dual orientation capabilities.

It's amazing how much prices

It's amazing how much prices have dropped and expectations have risen.

A few years ago we wouldn't have blinked at $300 - $400, or even $500 - $700 for a GPS unit. These days it seems obscenely expensive.

Who could have forecasted the rapid decline in prices! Thanks a whole lot to the built in GPS in Android and other devices. smile

I still have my Streetpilot

I still have my Streetpilot 2610. I think I paid around $800 for it when it first came out. I knew I was addicted for life...that and I have a horrible sense of direction.

I will pay it

I don't agree. I think you are getting a really good unit for the price. I paid $400 for my Nuvi 660 on black Friday 3 years ago and have gotten a lot of seamless use out of it. I will get a 3760 after I build my fund for such things back up. I still need to pay for my Droid X. I will never depend on that sa a unit to use in the car however. It takes way to much fooling around with to keep it on track. I firmly believe in a dedicated unit for the job. That even applies to the remotes in our house. My wife wants to use the Dish remote for everything while I keep showing her why she needs separate remotes for the TV and DVD and sound system to make them work right. As long as the differences stay good natured we're OK. So far no problems.

Spending Wat Too Much

I agree. Spending that much on a portable GPS is just totally unnecessary. What are the features that would cause you to spend that type of money on a unit?
