ecoRoute HD >> Connection problem? Solution (workaround) found

I've had my ecoRoute HD connected to my 1490LMT for several weeks now without a single connection problem. I love this thing but this week my patience was tested.

Monday morning I noticed that the 1490 had not connected to the ecoRoute HD. No problem I figured, just re-establish the connection. Nope, it wouldn't. Grrr.

This morning I found a workaround at the page below.

In a nutshell here's what I did to solve the problem;
1. Backup the 1490LMT to my computer (Do not skip this step). Instructions to do so are elsewhere on POI Factory.
2. Locate the "sqlite" folder on the GPS. This is typically a hidden folder, but if you did step 1 above you will have exposed these hidden folders.
3. Delete the file named "mlg_history.db" (I moved it to my desktop as a safety measure.)
4. Disconnect the GPS from the computer & reinstall into car.
5. Go through steps to reconnect ecoRoute HD. Voila!!!

According to the discussion on the page above it would appear that the GPS units suffer from a memory issue when the ecoRoute HD is used after about 40-50 hours of data collection.

One can only hope that Garmin is working on a solution to this in a future firmware update.

All the best everyone.

Glad you found a solution to your problem.

I have had my ecoRoute HD connected to my 1690 since early July and have had a burp or two along the way, but overall, my HD device has been rock solid. I've never deleted that file either which is currently 6272KB in size. My burps may have been self-induced or BT related too. I finally killed BT and don't use it on the 1690 anymore.

I've not had any recent burps and in fact, can't remember the last one. I've been very pleased with the ecoRoute HD connected to the 1690.
