In my own circumstances, living in an "older" area, the changes that are implemented in maps over a couple of years is NOT significant. That's also true for at least a dozen trips I've taken with my Nuvi 350 to other parts of the country. I understand that is not true for all of us.
My approach has been to buy 1 map update for the life of the unit. Then it's cheap enough to buy a new unit.
I bought the lifetime maps from amazon, sure enough my gps went on life support.
This is the question I contemplate when considering buying the lifetime maps. As suggested in another post I believe that the best bet is to look for a GPS that comes with lifetime maps at purchase.
For those of you with adult kids or parents who are always at a loss at what to get you for birthday or Christmas ... now would be a good time to drop a hint about wanting a LIFETIME Map card. Price has dropped to within "normal" gift giving range.
Hey, two birds with one stone ... you get lifetimme maps and your gift givers get off giving a present that you will enjoy and cherish for years to come.

Seems strange, before I got the lifetime map updates for my Garmin, the updates seemed to come out every second month, now that I have updates they seem to take a lot longer to appear.

The next update, 2011.30, will probably be out by November 1st if the three month cycle sticks. The last update came out towards the end of July and the one before that around the end of April.

How low can it go? We'll see ...
Garmin Drive 61, nuvi 2597MT, too many really.
I think the fair price is around $50.
This is not too high or not too low price.
Great price.. I wonder how
Great price.. I wonder how long will Garmin will continue this or is something brewing in the wind?

Garmin's 2300 currenty lists for $200 while the 2300LM lists for $240. That's $40 for lifetime maps.

Reasonable
$40 to $50 is reasonable, I think.
