Garmin Nuvi: Moving Select Favorites to a POI File?

I used my nuvi today to save the GPS coordinates for a few personal points of interest to my nuvi's Favorites folder. I accomplished this basically by standing at the specific POI, touching the screen in map mode, and using the Save button.

1) Is there an easier way to do this? The procedure I described about is a simplification of the various details, and yet I am not entirely sure that it was the right procedure.

2) Assuming that the coordinates I captured were correct, how do I "move" them from Favorites to a separate file called... oh... let's say MyPOIs.csv? (Note: I am sure that I could just manually record the GPS coordinates on a piece of paper and use that info to create MyPOIs.csv using something like Extra POI Editor, but the intent of my question is to see if there is a way to do this without the computer... or if the computer is required, to read the Favorites.)

Not really

What you are doing as to collecting the coordinates is probably the best method. It's tedious, but I don't know of any better way.

For part 2 of your question, use Extra_POI_Editor and access your Current.GPX file on the Nuvi. You can then edit out the entries you don't want in a separate file. Once you have just the points you want to save, you can then save what's in the editor as a new GPX or CSV.

.

It's easier to just 'Open Garmin Favorites' (Cntl+G) in EPE, and save them as a gpx file. It's under 'File'.

So EPE has the ability to read the Favorites "file" directly from the Garmin??? If true, thanks... I didn't know that.

.

Yes, it's true. Have a look.
