speed alert?

I just recently started getting a "speed alert: 9 mph ahead" alert in one certain area of town. The alert shows up in a red box at the top of the display and "pings" every 10 second or so... very anoying when I'm listening to the radio and it keeps cutting out to play the notification sound. This alert has not shown up before and I dont recall making any changes to my settings in the last couple days. I did a search and the only thing I could find close to this topic was "proximity notifications" which I do not have any set. I did do a map update to 2010 maps about 3 weeks ago but this speed alert just started about 2 days ago.

This alert has never popped up before and the area is a 30 mph zone with no construction or any other sort of diversions.

I checked my owners manual and didnt find anything that resembled the speed alert that I am experiencing. Any body that knows what setting I need to change and where to find it to get rid of this notification would be great.

Oh, and I dont have any speed camera POI's or proximity alerts for any other POI's installed.... nor do I have xm or weather/trafic subscription.

KNA-G510

There's probably not too many KNA-G510 users on this forum. But if that was happening to one of my Nuvis, I'd first try to turn off everything on the Proximity Alerts page especially the setting for "Continuous Notification" (which I think you've already done). The next thing is a hard reset, but we'd have to wait for someone else to chime in on how to do that on your unit.

.

Sounds like you have a Custom POI file loaded that has the number "9" in the file name.

POI Loader interprets numbers (numerals) in the file name as speed alerts.

Rename the file and then reload the Custom POIs.

found it!

great, thanks. I noticed on my gps today that the B of A poi in town had the speed alert in the details view. came back home and loaded up the computer to look at the BofA file and sure enough...the Bank Of America file has the date in the file name. I have gone though and renamed all my poi's with a shortened file name taking out all the "extra" stuff. I havent reloaded my gps yet but I'm sure this should work.

Thanks.
