Load To Mapsouce

When I open POI Loader and the window for save options comes open all I have to choose from is Garmin Device or Custom Folder. There is no Mapsource option available. How do I get this option to appear in the save option window? All help will be appreciated.

.

MapSource cannot (currently) read or open the output from POI Loader.

If you wish to view the Custom POIs in MapSource, you must open the source GPX files directly.

If the Custom POIs are in CSV format, you must use a converter software to convert them to GPX.

just Curious

Just curious. If an output was Mapsosurce, what would you do with the POIs in Mapsource?

Another option.

Here is a work around if you want to view your file in MapSource you can use Extra Poi Editor http://turboccc.wikispaces.com/Extra_POI_Editor to load a csv or gpx file to it.Under Tools for EPE you will see option to open in MapSource.

.

The MapSource output option was available in POI Loader 2.5.3, but was removed in the current (2.5.4) version. It produced an output GPI file same as Custom Folder. Custom Folder lets you specify the location for the POI.GPI file. The MapSource option let you specify a name for the GPI file, which was always output to the GARMIN\CustomPOIs folder (inside your AppData\Roaming folder in Windows 7)

As @Motorcycle Mama said, Mapsource has never been able to read POI Loader output (GPI files). The source GPX files must be used. If you used CSV files, @charlesd45 made an excellent suggestion to use EPE.

Using Customized Waypoint Symbols

You can add customized symbols for your waypoints. MapSource includes 8 default custom waypoint symbols located on your computer in "My Documents\My Garmin\Custom Waypoint Symbols." You can open these symbols with a graphic editor and use them as templates for creating your own symbols.

You can add up to 64 custom waypoint symbols. These symbols must be in .bmp format and must be named numerically from "000.bmp" to "063.bmp." Custom waypoint symbols can be 16 x 16 pixels (small) or 24 x 24 pixels (large) and up to 32-bit color.
