Greetings all....I purchased a Nuvi 255WT 8-10 weeks ago at Best Buy, Lewisville, Texas and I like it very much, however the unit has not been without problems. On many occasions the unit malfunctioned (froze up) when I diverted from the route displayed on the screen. I had the same problem while driving in Miami Florida, and various parts of Texas. The only way out of that situation was to power off, and start again. A call to Garmin Tech Support solved the problem. They asked me to try re-setting by powering up while pressing the lower right-hand corner of the screen, then selecting "erase all data" - which, of course I had already tried but it did not help. At their request I shipped the Unit back to Garmin (at my expense, I might add" and they replaced it. I am testing the replacement now and will report later on results, once I have given it a workout. Has anyone else had this problem?

latest software
Have you checked the unit to make sure it has the latest software updates? My 855 has frozen 3 times in the year that I've owned it, and I think one of the software updates, helped prevent them.

My son purchased a 255w at Best Buy several weeks ago. Actually, he purchased a 205w and the 255w was in the box. Still, I think he paid too much. Walmart has the refurbed Magellan 1340 for $40 and a refurbed 1490t can go for around $180 at Amazon (I got one at Newegg several moths ago for $160).

Yes, I got the unit new only about 8-10 weeks ago and updated the software the first time I hooked it up to the computer. The new one is here, seems to work fine and I am sure it will work fine.
