Quest2

Well don't know if anyone has had this problem before or not. I have a Garmin Quest2 on my motorcycle and just the other day it started to lose satalite reception off and on. It would get it back but others riding with me didn't have that problem all be it they didn't have a Quest2. Any suggestions?

.

There are several things to consider;

1. The Quest 2 does not use the same high sensitivity receiver chipset that Garmin's newer units do - as such they can be more prone to losing signal when riding or driving where you may not have a direct 'shot' at the sky. This would be 'normal'.

2. You might need to do a hard reset on the device - save your waypoints and such before you do this. This one you can do yourself.

What follows will likely require that the unit take a trip back to Garmin . .

3. The flip up antenna contains a small wire that may have become 'flakey' with age due to use and vibration.

4. It could be that something has shaken loose inside and the electronics have become intermittant.

5. A component may have aged out of specification.

Do they still support the Quest-2? I suspect they do. I suggest you call or write their tech support and ask the same question of them.

Hope this helps.

Currently have: SP3, GPSMAP 276c, Nuvi 760T, Nuvi 3790LMT, Zumo 660T

Thanks

I agree it may be the antenna wire. Yes they still support the Quest2 I finally got thru to them and I also did a hard reset to no avail. They will send a referb Quest2 out if I so desire for a nominal fee. With the mount I have it would be about the only one I can use until I run the wheels of this bike and get a new one.

Thanks for the info.
