How Do You Create an Optimized Dispatched Route?

My Garmin in a Nuvi 265wt. I would like to be able to create an optimized route where I can go from location to location in a sequential order that does not include going from point A to point D and then back to Point B. It would be like a dispatched route. What software do I need, how can this be done, etc.? Thank you in advance to anyone who can provide me with specific instructions on how to create this optimized routed poi.

Gamrin Mapsource

I would, and have used Mapsource to create routes. Use the waypoint tool to go from point A to point B, etc. If the garmin recalculates the route between points, you can use the waypoint toool to lock down the route so that it goes the way you wan tto go. Then upload it to the garmin.

Unless you are the lead sled dog, the view never changes. I is retard... every day is Saturday! I still use the Garmin 3590 LMT even tho I upgraded to the Garmin 61 LMT. Bigger screen is not always better in my opinion.

You won't like this answer, but...

Look for a nuvi that offers multi-point routing. This includes the nuvi 4xx, 7xx, 8xx, 1490 and 1690 and maybe some more. Sadly the 2x5 series that you have does not support this function.

CraigW is right...my OOps`

I somehow didnt notice that your GPS doesnt support custom routing. Sorry. AAR, I do love my 765t, so if you can still find one (discontinued), it is a great unit, since the last firmware update fixed the big issue of touchscreen misinterpretations.

.

Microsoft Streets and Trips will optimize a route.

The nuvi 265wt does not have the ability to store routes, however.

The best you can do is to create a series of Waypoints or Custom POIs from the optimized route and then load them to the unit and navigate to them in sequence manually.

765T still available

I just bought one from Garmin (765T) about a month ago, and it is still available at Amazon.com
