Bought Unit In UK From Motorworld £300 Down To £150 Demo Stock (Now 3 Days Old) Registered But Serial In Use Came Up Got Motorworld To Change Detials Through Garmin. Tried Map Unlocker But Never Had Yellow Code Number In Box E-Mailed Garmin Direct & Phoned Each Day.
Reply Would Send Code Through My E-mail (No Reply Yet)
Downloaded POI Software & Few Other Files, The Unit Shows Software V5.40 Audio V2.60.
Questions: V8 V9 How Do I Know What V I Have. The Loader Disk CD Rom Is V4
SD Card 250 Meg What Files Should Be On It, If I Get A Larger Card What Do I Do?

How Do I Know If It Worked.
What Other Things Do I Need Software Wise Other Than Speed Cam Info.

First, welcome to the site.
In answer to your questions:
1. To determine map version, choose the wrench icon and under maps you should find the version.
2. SD card: unfortunately, the c310 does not read pois off of the SD card. It can only handle maps. In your case, I would not recommend getting a larger card.
3. For POI Loader to work, you need to have the POIs located on your PC in a folder (can be either .gpx or .csv) When running POI Loader, you need to select that folder from which to load. Then, direct the POIs to your GPS, and not to the SD card. If you put them on your SD card, you will have the option when you start your GPS to transfer them from the card. The software will tell you that the load is complete. You will find them under: Where to? > My Locations > Custom POIs

If the C310 is similar to
If the C310 is similar to C320 (which I have), you can buy a 1 or 2 gig SD card and using the SD card reader from your computer copy the what is in the 256 meg SD car to the 1 or 2 gig card.
This should allow you to add POI files by using Garmin's POI loader using MKahn's directions.
Not sure on the other stuff you mentioned but typically Garmin will give you a DVD of the map if it is already preload or in your case on the SD card. ... by the way the US version is either Version 8 or 9 but UK might be Version 4...

Seems To Have Too Many Files On SD Card. only 30 of 250 left wish i knew what to delete.
I take it that this unit garmin c310does not have Folder Lock.

Not sure what files the C310 has but my C310 SD card has one folder called Garmin and one file in the folder that is 940 meg caled gmapsupp.img. All the map of the US/Canada plus the POI data is in this file.
