SD for nuvi 265 (City Navigator Europe NT 2011 not recognized)

I bought City Navigator Europe NT 2011 for my Canadian Garmin - doesn't recognize the card - what should I do

Hi, Check if the little

Hi,

Check if the little slidding button on the side of the SD card is on the lock position. It might be because of that.

Give us some news....

Thanks I had seen the lock

Thanks I had seen the lock button but didn't know what it was for. I now get in Map Info, in addition to North America, an entry for None. There's a little check mark beside both mapping systems. Should I at this point be able to change countries in Where To cause I can't. the card itself has two files GMAPSUPP.IMG (1,940,352 KB) and GMAPSUPP.UNL (1 kb).

Try this

On my nuvi, if the internal City Nav North America NT is checked in Map Info, it's the only map you'll see even when the other map on the SD card is also selected. Try unchecking City Nav North America while keeping the other map checked. That's what I need to do to view my topo maps.

I'm still worried that the map on the SD card is called "None" rather than City Nav Eur NT. Just to be sure, the European map on SD that you bought is from Garmin and not a copy someone made onto a blank SD card, right? These maps on SD cards are locked to the specific SD card. A map on a SD from Garmin will work in any GPS that can show the map and can be swapped from one GPS to another but it must be the original Garmin SD card and not a copy.

I've not tried a foreign map before. I assume that the City Nav Europe won't show any detail when it's the active map and the GPS determines you're in Canada. Try going to Simulator Mode and putting yourself in Europe.

Good luck.

Thanks a lot both of you -

Thanks a lot both of you - although I didn't leave the SD in the GPS overnight, something seems to have clicked and when I inserted the chip today and checked Map Info there were mapping systems for both Europe and North America, and in where To? I could put in my Dublin address - although after thinking for a few minutes wasn't able to give me a routing

That's what those forum are

That's what those forum are for..... Helping each other !!!

Another thing, if you're in north america and ask for a route for an address in Europe, your unit might not have enough memory to dress such an itinery. Most important, if in a close up map you are able to see all the roads, avenues and streets, everything work fine. When you'll be in Europe, all the routing options will work OK.

Have a great week !!!
