Just ran webupdater and it found a new software update version 4.40 for my Nuvi 1350t. Probably they just released it because within their website it didn't list that version. I just updated mine, I'll find out how it goes when I drive home from work today.
Changes from version 4.20 to version 4.40:
Added Loc8 Postal Code functionality for Ireland.
Corrected issue that could cause unit to remain stuck on copyright screen.
Corrected issue that could cause unexpected shutdown when satellite reception is temporarily lost.
Changes from version 4.10 to version 4.20:
Added support for Luxembourg and Netherlands traffic and safety cameras.
Improved ecoRoute accessory connection handling.
Here is the link where it shows the software versions for the Nuvi 13xx and 14xx
So far so good
Just downloaded and installed. No problem till now. From the update log, the changes are neglegible for US:
1. Corrected issue that could cause unit to remain stuck on copyright screen.
2. Corrected issue that could cause unexpected shutdown when satellite reception is temporarily lost.
Still very poor map detail in 1xxx series. If Garmin does not release firmware to increase map detail (instead of showing a complex grid of roads and neighborhoods with no names even on the "most detail" setting), I'm ready to return mine in the next couple of weeks.
I have a 1450 and a 760.
I have a 1450 and a 760. They both show about the same detail for map detail as far as roads.
760 will show what road is coming up next, but very few other roads. If they did put all the street names, it would clog up the screen.
The 1450 only tells you what street you are driving on and not what street is coming next. Also just shows the grids and very few other street names.
Some people wanted the GPS to show you what street you are currently on. The 1450 does that. Others wanted to know what the upcoming streets were. I know the 760 and most others do that. It can't go back and forth otherwise it could switch every 2 seconds.
I, too, wish it would have a few more steet names listed, but as long as it tells me when and where to turn, and gets me to where I want to go, I am happy.
Display upcoming street.

As far as I know, only some of the discontinued models (like your 760) show the upcoming cross street when navigating without a route or destination. I don't think any of the nuvi's in the current model lineup do that. Maybe the new 37xx series does; there is not much information on them yet.

Just downloaded & updated - no problems.
I, too, am quite disappointed with the map detail for cross streets that I get on the 1350. My Nuvi 350 does a much superior job.
Perhaps this will be the last Garmin I purchase. Garmin seems to have lost it's direction.

Thanks for the info
I'll hold off just a bit to make sure those who have updated have no problems with this release.
When navigating without a destination, my 1490T shows just as much map detail as my 260. I have also noticed that even though the next street does not show up in the banner, the next few cross streets ARE labeled on the map.

So far no problems with version 4.40 as far as navigation, routing, GPS functionality etc.. but I think I may found a problem with the Picture Viewer.
When viewing a series of pictures as a slideshow after about 3-5 minutes into the slideshow, the unit turn off by itself even though battery display fully charged. Has anyone else experience this ?
Thanks
.
4.40 has also been released for the 12xx series.

Nope!!!

The Picture Viewer slideshow
The Picture Viewer slideshow issue happened intermittently, when it did not shutdown by itself, instead of displaying the picture, it displayed a camera icon instead.
If I view each individual picture one by one from the Picture Viewer they all look ok and also the unit would not turned off by itself.
I tried to delete all the pictures from the Nuvi unit Jpeg folder and copy back the new ones in, but still sometimes it displayed a camera icon instead of the picture only from the slideshow or the slideshow would shutdown the unit after 3-5 minutes. This did not happened before the upgrade to version 4.40

In using the 1450 the past couple of days (have only had it for less than a week), I do notice that while the main information on the screen says the name of the street you are driving on, the map itself will show the names of the streets that connect to the street you are driving on as you approach them. While it doesn't show all the street names in a grid (I think it would clutter up the screen IMO), it is doing what I need it to do. Again, as long as it will get me to where I want to go when I need information, I am happy.
