Track Log File Editing

If I wanted to upload a Track Log file from a Garmin Aera 500 or Zumo 660 and then edit the file how can it be done?
Can the Track Log file be viewed in a text editor, edited and then reloaded into the Garmin?
Will the Garmin device detect that the file has been edited and reject it?
I have some Track Log files that show the time in the records as say 13:25:15 (UTC). Does this mean that the time is synchronised to UTC or is actually at UTC? For exammple, if I was in British Summer Time would the record say (UTC +1) after the time field?
Many thanks.
Track log
I have a Garmin Etrex which does Track log. Since the unit doesn't have a localization feature like the nuvi to set your local time zone, it shows the time in UTC format.
I would suggest to compare the GPS time and your clock and check if there is any time difference.
Here is a portion of the track log from my Etrex:
1963.1494141
2009-09-13T16:38:45Z
Notice the Z at the end of the time which indicate Zulu time.
