Interesting thought. What would each entry point to? The geographic center of the area code?

I would think the entry would point to the location of the post office at that particular area code.

I would think the entry would point to the location of the post office at that particular area code.

Where I am in the 813 area code for example, there are multiple cities & towns, each with dozens of post offices.

I just realized my error. I was thinking ZIP CODES!

Zip codes

Depending on the size of the city or town, or village there would still be to many. A zip code will have multiple towns cities and multiple post offices. What would it point to?

If there were such a thing, it wouldn't look anything like what you are used to.

Even when an area code DID equate to a defined geographic area, it often is HUGE. How would the GPS treat the whole state of Montana, for instance.

It's even worse now as the new area codes may be used in two or MORE of the old areas.
