Lane Assist not working correctly

Alright, so my garmin nuvi 765t has the latest map update available, and I've been noticing that when I put my gps in simulation mode, the lane assist will pop up in places that I haven't seen it before. The problem is when I plug my GPS onto the mount and use the GPS while travelling to the same places that I simulated, the lane assist arrows no longer activate as I get closer to the intersection or turn where they did before. They just don't appear anymore and
I just get the turn indicator. It doesn't make any sense to have lane assist incorporated into the map and it doesn't activate when you're actually using it (not in simulation mode obviously). I am clueless as to why this is happening.

Active route?

Are you sure you are navigating an active route (Where To)? The lane assists and junction views do not show when you are just operating in map display and not navigating a route.

Lane Assist

For those with an android phone, I've found that using my Garmin 765T in conjunction with Google Navigation on my phone works great. I use the Garmin for my basic moving information and alerts, while using Google for visual information.

As an example, Garmin tells me speed, highway designations, distance to an intersection, alerts, etc., while Google shows me a visual picture of the route or an actual picture of the upcoming complex intersection.

No, I'm talking about when

No, I'm talking about when I'm actually driving on an active route on the map screen in 3D mode, not just operating the map display. My problem was that the lane assist would not activate in places that I know the map has it. And I know that from doing the simulation mode.

don't have this issue

on my 855. Lane assist seems to be working fine. It is in use in Houston. I have been surprised that when I have traveled, I expected to see more of this feature than I actually have - seems like not all cities are implemented very well.

I am not sure what to tell you on this one. I have never observed any differences on either of my nuvi's (755T and 855) for lane assist or junction view when actually navigating a route vs. simulating the same route. You might want to document a specific route where you can reproduce this symptom, then call Garmin customer support and see what they say about it.

How to verify

To verify your Lane Assist is working or not, set your route then go the turn by turn screen, you'll see a Lane Assist button that is greyed out unless Lane Assist is available, in which case you can press the Lane Assist button to preview the Lane Assist screen.

It's all described in greater detail in the owners manual, which you can download from here:

I hope it's like speed limits

If Lane Assist and Junction View are anything like Speed Limits when the first nuvis offered them, future map update will likely add many more intersection. For folks with speed limits displayable, the first map that offered it pretty much just included Interstate Highways--now I bet 90+% of paved public streets are speed-limit IDed. I would not at all be surprised to see JV/LA offerings increase 10-fold in the next year.

Of course, none of this helps the original poster with the very odd issue. All I can say is that I've never seen that occur with my 855.
