Using a map I just downloaded??

I purchased a Nuvi 205w in europe and just downloaded North America map to an SD card......how do i get it to work or load or whatever.......i'm lost!!

Should be ready to go..Turn it on and put in an address to go to. It should read off the sd card like it was on the garmin hard drive.
You could also try setting your "home" location and see if it recognizes the address.
What kind of map did you download...
What kind of map did you download... P2P (torrent) or one from Garmin?
If it's a map from Garmin, it should work straight-away (after following their instructions). You might have to turn on the map by: TOOLS > SETTINGS > MAP > INFO, then make sure the check-box for your new map is checked.
If you downloaded from a torrent (P2P), then you will have to create a folder on the SD card called "garmin". Place the downloaded file in that folder and rename it (the downloaded file) to "gmapsupp.img". Follow the instruction in the paragraph above to turn it on.
