Why no spaces in POI File Names?

I have noticed that most all POI file names have no spaces in the file name and many use the "-" or "_" characters where a space would be appropriate.

Most alway I rename the files to suit my taste and this normally involves introducing spaces into the name. I have not experienced any problems with POI loader loading them. I use a 765T.

So the question is: Is there are technical reason that POI filenames seldom, if ever, have a space in the file name?

Is it because some GPS models do not support them?
Is it because some older versions of POI Loader did not support them?

Just curious.

.

There's no "technical" reason.

Just likely the preferences of the file author.

Some operating systems just don't like spaces in file names so they add the underscore when they encounter a space.

Or the OS truncates the file name at the first space, so a file named "a b c.gpx" becomes "a". By naming the file "a_b_c.gpx" you avoid the problem entirely.
