Finding out what the poi file is for is the first hard piece of info you need to obtain...

first is there an intrest in doing the work

Judging from his profile he is a maintainer of forest fire lookout towers. Perhaps it has something to do with that.

Don't know what the group project is. But I have been thinking of something, does anyone watch the Travel and Food channels and want to go to those places seen in the shows? I checked here and there doesn't seem to be one yet. Maybe we could have POI based on Dumpsters, Drives and Dive Ins and Man vs. Food!

The last time I saw a couple of men volunteer for something like that, they wound up at a remote radar site in Greenland.

So, it sounds like he/she is looking for volunteers to do the work which he/she will sell elsewhere. Doesn't sound kosher to me, but good try though.

I learned a long time ago when I was in the Army. Never volunteer for something when you don't know what you are volunteering for.

This post would have gone in a lot different direction if the person who started it would have asked for help on "Food" "Travel" "Churches" "Graveyards" or anything else like that.
We all might have considered something like that, but no one is going to say yes to something that you would not, or could not, post here.

There may be volunteers, but unless we know what your idea is, you're not going to get a lot of good responses. It almost sounds as if you're afraid that if you tell us your idea someone's going to steal it. The catch 22 is that if you don't tell us the idea you'll never be able to act upon that idea.

So, out with it already, before you try my patience and the patience of others.

Many of the projects here are made from contributions from others across the country.

That said, how do you expect others to contribute, or say they will, if you won't say what the project is?

If you are afraid of someone stealing your idea, create a file with a couple real entries and upload it. Then when others contribute you can update it.

Sounds like a group project would end up being a huge file and be a mess to maintain.

OK everyone calm down, I am speaking with numnum in emails and have explained that the only files that have a charge to them are the Photo enforcement camera files.

Those files help pay the cost of running the website.

Has anyone noticed in numnum's tracks that this person has never had any involvment with anyone's post but their own. This tell us that all they are interested in is Fire Lookout Towers.

I think that numnum meant 'sail' not "sale" or "sell".
