In Dash GPS Stolen

We've had alot of folks post their concerns about the portable units and the likelyhood that they could be hoisted by the criminal element but what about those in-dash contraptions?? Do they have security features built in to prevent this?? Anybody have a unit stolen?? What do the car dealerships provide info wise when they are promoting the sale?? Curious minds want to know!!

I find it to be more

I find it to be more pausable for a portable one to be stolen then an in dash unit, although not impossible (ppl steal in dash stereos). I would say it would take a lot of work for someone to steal one. Some of the in dash units from what I have seen, has a separate monitor that pops up, so it would be really hard to steal. If I were to steal one, I would go for a portable on, they are better in most cases and A LOT easier to steal.

in dash vs portable

well the reality of the situation is if you leave your portable in the car, you are asking for it to be stolen, it's just that simple, it's usually in plain site, that's what thieves go for. In dash however depending what you mean as in dash, from factory or from after market? from factory, naw, it's probably easier to just steal the whole car anyways. after market they are usually no harder than in dash stereo/cd player

Yeah, I have seen some that

Yeah, I have seen some that have a flip up monitor, how do you steal that? Also, most (if not all) depend on the cd player, so you would have to steal that as well.
