Windmills, the kind that turn by the wind...

Report any Windmills in your travel, and we're talking about the (Dutch or Holland) kind, not the newest turbine windmills used for electricity generation. However, I guess we could always start one for those as they're call Wind Farms!

I grew up near this one, located between Batavia/Geneva Illinois at Fayban Park Forest Preserve.

for the historic information on this windmill.

Located at -88.3057666,41.8713984

They exist on this side of the pond? shock This I gotta see, since the only ones I've seen are at miniature golf courses, and I don't think they count. wink

Or could it? I got kicked off the course when I tried to tilt one. redface

Long Island

Even after the British took over New York from the Dutch, the Dutch still retained ownership of Long Island. There are still a number of windmills ther.

Check out

Dutch Windmills in the US

This one is in Holland, MI. It was dis-assembled in the Netherlands and re-assembled in MI. The only windmill allowed to be taken out of the Netherlands.

http://www.cityofholland.com/Brix?pageID=111

This one was built by a company from the Netherlands. All the components were manufactured in the Netherlands and shipped to IL for assembly on site.

One correction & one new
-96.684737,49.550531,"Mennonite Heritage Village","Steinbach Ontario

This windmill should be changed to Manitoba instead of Ontario.

While looking for a Royal Canadian Legion Branch (for a POI file that I'm
working on) in Holland Manitoba, I came across this one. Lat -98.883299 Lon 49.598845. Using Google Maps and Earth.
