Updating poi's new unit

I bought a 340c and it seems the poi's are about 2 years old based on restaurants and locations that are missing...

Is there an updated poi file from Garmin? or do I have to manually put in the poi's as I find them.

There's no way to update the pre-loaded POIs

You would need to create ones for new things as you find them, and - take a moment to go to the Navteq Map Reporter site, and use the form to report the missing POI to them. You can also report other things you find wrong on your map - like roads that exist in reality but not on the map, and the reverse of that situation...and also report POI locations that are closed that are on your unit, plus other inaccuracies you might discover that the Map Reporter site covers.

So, changes will appear in v9 of the update for my Nuvi 200?

There will be changes in v9.

There will be changes in v9. Whether or not the ones you want/need are changed is unknown. Sometimes it takes several updates for some roads and POIs to get changed.
