What is the current way to get MapSource? I had it on my computer, but it has been deleted and I am not sure if I can find my DVD with this.

Another way
This is how I installed Mapsource:

.
If you have one of the map update files from either the nuMaps or the Lifetime maps, you can just run that file and you will get MapSource installed plus the City Navigator maps.
If you don't have a map update file, you can get MapSource by installing the Garmin Training Center.
http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=835.
Then download the MapSource update.

You will only get a basic basemap and not the City Navigator maps. In order to get those, you will need the DVD or the map update file.
When I downloaded from cnet,
When I downloaded from cnet, I got the full map version .40, not just the basemap.

Mapsource is not a map
When I downloaded from cnet, I got the full map version .40, not just the basemap.
Mapsource is not a map and the latest version is 6.15.11
If you are talking about downloading a map (“version .40”) that is unlocked, it would be illegal to do so and I would be surprised that it would be available on cnet.
Otherwise, if you downloaded Mapsource from cnet and you are seeing a map version .40 available in Mapsource, you must have already had the map on your computer.
Ok, it is displaying the .40
Ok, it is displaying the .40 maps that my Nuvi is, I thought it was actually in Mapsource, I guess it is just displaying the .40 mapset that is on my computer from when I did the <60 day upgrade. That's a good point, I don't think that map will be available as a free download! But I did not have a previous of Mapsource installed, so the download is a full functioning program, not just an update.
Thanks for clarifying.

It is an update
The 6.15.11 available from cnet and directly from Garmin is an update and if you did not have either a garmin map already installed on your computer or, a previous version of Mapsource, then the Mapsource downloaded from cnet would not have completed installation on your computer – you would get a message something about not having any valid maps and then the installer would quit.
Note that installing the “Training Center”, as mentioned above by myself and Motorcycle Mama, puts a legal and valid Garmin map on your computer and thus enables you to install Mapsource 6.15.11 if you could not otherwise do so.
Also note that after installing Mapsource you can uninstall Training center.
Newer version now available
They recently distributed 6.16.1, you can download it directly from the Help menu of MapSource.
Hope this helps ?
