Rest Area - Tenants

I have an "old" Nuvi 350, and I have used the rest area POI files. What I'd like to know is if there's a way to tell what's in a certain rest area (i.e. does it contain a Dairy Queen?). All I can tell at this point is the actual existence of the rest area.

Thanks,

Lee

Rest Areas Combined

The Rest Areas Combined file tells you what facilities are present at the rest area. It will tell you if food is available, but not the actual vendor name.

Here's a dumb question: if I

Here's a dumb question: if I install that file (rest areas combined), do I need to add a memory card first? Currently, I am using the internal memory, and don't have an SD card installed.

not so dumb -

In fact, it is a very good question.

Normally you would not need to add a memory card, but a lot of factors figure into that statement. It will depend on your unit and what is stored in your unit.

You cna connect your unit to your PC and find out how much memory is addressable and how much is available. You can also eliminate a lot of the unused files such as language files you don't use.

Normally POI files don't take a whole lot of room, but again that depends on what you load. It's not the size or type of input file, it's the compiled POI.GPI file that's stored on your unit. When compiled, CSV and GPX files are virtually the same size even though the source file for a GPX is considerably larger.

Adding a card

I would add a card anyway. They are so cheap these days.
I added one and will never fill it up but it is there for all my future POI's.
Only have 20 or so different POI's but always adding more.
