CSV files don't handle punctuation characters very well unless the field is in quotes. That could be part of the problem. The line: -121.620278,37.605833,crane mt.,alpine co.elv.3456 est. 1956 should load if it is formatted this way in Notepad: "-121.620278","37.605833","crane mt.","alpine co.elv.3456 est. 1956"

ɐ‾nsǝɹ Just one click away from the end of the Internet

quotes not needed on that line

a_user, I put that single line without quotes into a csv file and poi loader took in without a hitch.

Sometimes when poi loader reports a line number in an error report, the actual fault is a previous line that caused an invalid line to be created - perhaps a spurious new line character or something like that.

edit error

i have played around with poi editor ,i keep get script errors the file go in ok but if i try to use it ,it errors.any ideas.my work on ca towers.csv is about done and ready to put on the site.im thinking of doing 3 diff. parts of the same subject.after you put it on the site ,how do you edit if needed. thanks for all your help ,im slow but geting there,

It turns out that numnum was trying to put in coordinates in degrees minutes seconds format similar to this:
-120.20.44,38.53.51,testd.m.s

That is what caused the error messages in Extra Poi Editor. EPE is set up to use standard Garmin decimal degree format (ddd.ddddd) .

From what I can tell the editor ramtrol referred to also does not accept DMS as an input format. I tried putting in DMS format by using various separators (period, colon, space) and it did not correctly read the coordinates.
