different route home

I would like to know why my garmin 265 will take a different route back to the point that I started from? I would think that the route would be the same. There are no one way streets involved.

.

Small differences in the roads ... left turns vs. right turns ... all sorts of things go into the routing algorithm and at some point, it has to just choose. This can result in minor routing differences.

I always tell people, if you know a better way than what the unit it tell you, take it. smile

That happens all the time.I

That happens all the time.I was in FT Walton Beach and didn't know my way around in one area.GPS took me one way there and a different way back. The return trip to me was faster.

Turns

It is believed that the Garmin has a propensity for right turns over left turns since left turns cross traffic and are a little more dangerous. Little things like this may make the Garmin favor a different way back than when it came. I've seen this on my two Nuvis from time to time.
