Question on Advanced GPS usage uploading and using Waypoints

Ok, I have now driven the Texas 45/130 toll road with my Garmin 1390T on the dash and turned on.

I came home pluged my 1390T into my PC opened Map source and Low and behold there is the route in way points on my Maps in Mapsource.

My question is if I download the ways points from the device and save it, called the file Austin Airport to San Antonio. It creates a .gdb file and when ever I click on it is snaps open the maps of Texas and the track, I save it to the Garmin.

HOW do I see it or use it?????? surprised

I see it made a Maps folder and put data in there I just don't know how to Get to it or show it on my device????

Can I show it on my device????

.

Not 100% sure I understand what you are trying to do.

The nuvi 1390T does not support stored routes.

I think you just answered my question

I was trying to re use the data in the 1390T unit.

It has plenty of stored data it just won't let me use it. For instance there is a Plotted track for every day I was driving and where I went.

I am wondering can I convert the way points to a custom Poi and load it in that way. Like some of the tours people have uploaded in the POI section.

What I am trying to do is use my waypoints to re navigate to Texas 45/130 when I go back this week.

Yes the unit cannot "use" stored tracks nor stored routes.

In MapSource, if you save the Waypoints (as individual points) and then save the file as GPX format (rather than GDB), then you can load the GPX file as a set of Custom POIs with POI Loader.

You can then navigate to the points manually in sequence if you wish.

Thank you

Thank you.

Thats what I needed to know. May be its time to place the 1390 in front of the tire and reTIRE it. cool

What should I get for my next Garmin unit?

If you go to the Garmin

If you go to the Garmin product page https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=134 scroll down. You can put check mark in the features you want and it will show you model or models that support the features.

Also found out

If you only have Way points in the GPX file it does not download to the garmin 1390T as a custom POI.

Ah AAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh.... mad

I see Pain in my garmin units future. twisted

Wait ... what?

Are you sure that you are doing it right?

1. Does your GPX file have actual Waypoints showing up in the Waypoints tab in MapSource?

2. Did you save it as a GPX file successfully?

3. Did you put that GPX file in your Custom POI folder on your computer and load it with POI Loader?

4. Do you get the "Success" message when you run POI Loader?

5. Do the Custom POIs not show up under your Customs POIs on your nuvi?

6. Have you been able to successfully load other GPX files with POI Loader?

easy

poi uploader, the look for it in favorites

Ok, Taking In a Deep breath: surprised

1. Yes I have about 500 way points in the File , shows up ever time I load it to Map source, from San Antonio Tx to Austin Texas airport using Texas 45/130 when I get near Austin.

2. Yes it is saved as a GPX File.

3. Yes, I used POI loader to find it and then Upload it to my Garmin POI folder.

4. It does say successful.

5. It shows up ONLY if I leave a few POI's in the file that I had marked, It does not show up if i only have way points.

6. Yes, I have successfully and repeatly loaded over 22,000 POI's. I removed all of them (Delete the POI file) and then ONLY tried to load the Way point file and it doesn't show up. I can put all the way poi's back and they are there, but not may way point file.

This is where I see the issue. redface

Ppppphhhheeeewwwww.... shock Sorry I couldn't hold my breath anymore. cool

OK I see an error

When I try to only upload the Way points POI Loader says: sad

"No Valid Data found in Specified Folder, therefore no data was written.
If you need further assistance call Garmin support."

wait a second this isn't what i thought it was

These are not way points its a track.

Thats why it does not upload it doesn't see the TRACK function in a Garmin 1390T.

That's why I asked what I asked in number 1.

What shows up under the Waypoints tab in MapSource?

Those are the actual points that can be loaded as Custom POIs. You need to use the Waypoints tool in MapSource in order to get Waypoints.
