The Skinny on Garmin and NAVTEQ Maps and their relationship.

 

Even though Garmin takes map submissions, they can't do anything other than what you do by going straight to NAVTEQ and make your own submission and buy doing so will be faster because the report is instant:

You can also go to the above link and see the newest NAVTEQ maps not yet available for your Garmin, but will be sometime the future.

Below are three questions and answers of why the newest Garmin NewMaps release is not the same as the newest NAVTEQ maps, Straight from NAVTEQ's website.

Why does the tracking number show resolved, but Map Reporter does not show the change?
‘Resolved’ means that we have received your submission successfully and have made the changes to the map within our databases; have found the report to be a duplicate; or have already fixed it. Once the resolved Map Report passes NAVTEQ’s global quality control processes to verify accuracy, it can be included in the next release of the database, which is issued quarterly.

When will any map changes be available on a product I can buy?
Once we release the change in our database, it still needs to be incorporated into our customer applications. In some cases, this can be a matter of months. With more complex applications it can be over a year.
