Suggest starting a "helpful hints" document

Just before reading your post, I saw this. Here is a link
http://www.poi-factory.com/node/25721

It is a good one to copy and paste into a "doc" of helpful hints that I think everyone should have for reference.

Did your GPS get you here? razz

may I also recommend...

...an excellent companion site to poi-factory.com, hosted by another member of this great community, Gary Hayman:

http://home.comcast.net/~ghayman3/garmin.gps/

I found it very helpful in getting the basics down, and then being comfortable with implementing all of the wonderful information and advice that can be found here.

another one that is excellent while getting started was posted here by Whoaboy is:

hope these help you as well.

Welcome to the Site

You will enjoy this site. It is an invaluable tool for increasing your GPS knowledge.

Hello all

My first post here. Another one just out from under a rock.
I have a Garmin 885T and I just installed a Kenwood DNX 9140 in my Toyota Sequoia, (no runaways ...yet).
My 885T has been perfect but since my new kenwood has built in Garmin Nav, I guess my 885T is surplus. Too bad because I bought Lifetime maps for it and I understand they are not transferable.I have to read up and see if my Kenwood has the capability to add custom POIs. I am looking forward to learning more about this interesting subject.
Thanks all.
