Why do I have to Edit Favorites to add phone numbers?

Garmin 660
I'm in the process of re-entering my favorites after the V4.80 to V4.70 Downgrade blew all favorites away... Due to the fact that V4.80 is buggy, and Delete's Red and Yellow lines on my Traffic alerts....

Usually I create a favorite this way:
Hit Address... Enter it, and his SAVE, and give it a name.
Next... I back out, go back into Favorites, and select the same favorite and select EDIT... To Edit in the phone number for the Favorite I just entered...

Why do I have to do it this way?

Is there a way of entering in a favorite that allows you to enter the phone number at the time you program the favorite, and not as an EDIT of a favorite, after the fact?????

Just trying to make it more efficeint....

Do you mean to go into the

Yes

You have to have EPE 4.60 installed on the computer, and have the GPS hooked up via the USB. Double click the contact to edit the info. From there, save back to Favorites.

See, that's exactly what I

See, that's exactly what I was complaining about....
Why is it that I have to edit a favorite -- computer or within GPS???
Is there a way (Or shouldn't there be a way) of entering data for a favorite with a phone num, so I don't have to go back and edit the favorite in order to enter a phone number?

That is the way it is set up

That is the way it is set up to work now.I ask Garmin why when you save a custom poi as a favorite and it contains all info but when saved as a favorite info is lost. This is the answer.I think this answers applies to your problem.

Thank you for contacting Garmin International. You are correct in that the address information is not carried over (by design). Currently there are no plans to change this and currently it is not viewed as a error issue as much as it is a feature that customers might want added to our units. I will submit your request to our engineering staff for consideration. As with any and all feature requests, the more the demand the greater chance this will appear as a feature on future units or updates for current models. I apologize for this inconvenience.

I've moved favorites before.

I've moved favorites before. All you simply needed to do was copy the "current.gpx" file before doing the downgrade and then paste that file back in the same folder after the firmware downgrade. Everything would have been exactly the same as before just fine.

1. On the GPS, locate the file named Current.gpx and copy it to your computer. It should be in a folder named GPX
2. Rename your copy of Current.gpx to Temp.gpx and copy it back to the same location on your unit.

There may already be a file named Temp.gpx, but it's safe to delete it and replace with your new file. When you start up the GPS, it will import all of your favorites.

Current.gpx is an "output" file, which contains all the favorites. You should rename that file to anything but current.gpx to transfer or restore from backup. Using Temp.gpx to transfer the file back to the gps works.
