Tested blue tooth on the Garmin 1390T today.

Tested the Blue tooth capabilities of the Garmin 1390T today.

It’s ok, and I guess alright if you don’t already own a blue tooth headset and you feel the need to let everyone else in the car hear your conversation. I could hear the person on the other end just fine, they told me I sounded far away. Maybe I shouldn’t sit in the back seat while driving ??? I guess with the device Mounted on the windshield like 98% of all GPS systems It’s a little far and the microphone picks up other back ground noise like the radio (Girl you look good why’d you Back dat….Ah never mind) surprised redface .

When I connected the devices the first time after a few minutes magically (No Blue Tooth-a-ly) It dumped all my contacts onto Garmin and made them available to Voice dial to them. I couldn’t just leave that well enough alone wink , So I kept monkeying with it connecting and disconnecting (to see if the data went away and came back) and one time, the phone kept saying it was connecting and it didn’t look right so I forced it to continue and some of my contacts showed up on the Garmin, Then a whole bunch of Chinese characters showed up and big white spaces. (Anyone ever see the movie Transformers, It looked like Deceptacon machine talk twisted ) and I almost had to take the device out and Place it in front of the front tire. I had to disable Blue tooth on the garmin device and let it clear out before I could use it again for talking on the phone.

Garmin Bluetooth

I have a Garmin 760 and the Bluetooth is very convenient.

My wife says the built in microphone is terrible and it is difficult to understand me. Now I use an external microphone. It isn't great but it does work. The speaker is no big deal either.

It's too bad Garmin doesn't put $1 into each unit for a decent microphone and speaker.
