How to backup Favorites?

Seeing that a firmware downgrade just deleted all my favorites..... It begs to ask:

Once I re-enter favorites again, is there a file that I can backup in order to save favorites so that they don't have to be re-entered manually in the future, if I encounter an issue that deletes favorites?????

Nuvi 660

Thanks...

If you look in the Garmin/gpx folder there is a file called "current.gpx". That's your favorites.

If you have to put the favorites back in the future.Rename the current.gpx to temp.gpx and paste back in the GPX folder .

You can also use MapSource

If you have Garmin's MapSource, you can transfer favorites between your Garmin and the program. You have the added flexibility of viewing your favorites on your PC and also adding new ones which can then be transfered back to your GPSr.

For those that don't have MapSource, a free program EasyGps will Load and save gpx files. Streets & Trips 2010 will also do the same.

Backing up favorites with MapSource.

Although you can use MapSource to transfer favorites between your GPS and PC - it does not transfer everything. I had programed phone numbers to some of my addresses in the favorites - and those do not transfer to Garmin's MapSource.

I like the backup file option better.

Maybe it'll be fixed soon in MapSource. From the Change History in the Beta copy of MapSource on the Garmin Web site "Changes made from version 6.16.0.2 to 6.16.0.3:
POI address and phone number information is now displayed by MapSource and can be edited."
Presumably; if they allow you to edit phone numbers, they will also save them.
