Shut Down After Multiple Recalculations

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced the following with their unit.
I have the 255W, and when I choose a destination and hit go, I sometimes will take a different route rather than what "Karen" is suggesting. The GPS will begin recalculating as it should every time I drive from one street to another.
After about the 4th or 5th recalculation the unit will completely shut down (black screen) and immediately start up again. At this point I have to put in my 4 digit security code to unlock it to proceed to the main screen. It should be noted that the original route is still programmed and as I drive it will continue to recalculate until it's finds the route that I wanted to take from the very beginning and all is well from here on.
This doesn't happen often, but has happened with several different map versions (2010.20, 2010.30, 2010.40) and I have occasionally over that period of time done a couple of hard resets.
Any ideas why this is happening or if this "bug" has happened to anoyone else ? I'm running an old firmware (version 4.60) but have been very happy with it thus far. I'm not sure if what I'm describing was a known "bug" in that firmware version.

I suspect this is not a bug. The GPS is trying to get you back on the route it sees as most logical and you are going the way you want to go. It will continue to do this until your way is the only way left. I suggest if you know where you want to go, just use "View Map" rather than setting a destination. It will be a lot less irritating and if you know where to go, you don't need the GPS. You'll never change it's mind. The first time I used it to go from Wichita, KS to Tucumcari NM, it spent a long distance trying to get me to Highway 54 rather than I-40. I didn't realize what it was doing but now I know and I still go my way and it still has it's way. No winners!

Have you tried a different software version to see if it stops the shut down?

Since this sort of shut down doesn't seem to have happened to anyone else, it's looking more and more like a software or unit problem. I have a couple of more things to test out before doing an upgrade.

I updated the software via Web Updater and everything has been fine every since. It's been a couple of months now.

I had a situation where it kept recalculating and then it just froze up. I had to shut it down and restart it.
