Sometimes my 255WT freezes while "recalculating" I reboot it and everything seems fine. Is that something I should be worried about?

It certainly shouldn't freeze. Does this happen all of a sudden without any involvement from you with the 255WT?
The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once.
Suggestion
Try a hard reset and let us know if the freezing persists.

It only happens if it has to
It only happens if it has to recalculate several times in a short amount of time (almost like the unit is mad because i'm not following it's instructions).

Similar problem
I had the same problem with my 255, although not the WT model. I backed up my data first then did a hard reset. After that I had no more problems.
If the unit keeps on freezing, then I suggest checking if you have the latest firmware and update as necessary. If that does not work, then probably you will need to have a chat with Garmin tech support.
