wow, I made the top of the second page!

Late as always, but at least I'm not in MD like my friends, under 30" of snow...

Mississauga with less snow than Baltimore... who'd a thunk it.

Fun in New Orleans...

tomkovacic wrote:

Wow, what a game yesterday. My wife and I are visiting our son in New Orleans and it was a zoo here. I've been to many superbowl parties in GreenBay and this one beat them all. People are wild in the Big Easy. All the neighbors were blowing off fireworks like the 4th of July. And the TV pictures of the partyers in the French Quarter was something else. They say that there were more people on Bourbon Street than at MartiGras. Wow what fun. I don't know how much more fun this old man can take!

You have an idea what this has meant for all us locals, particularly since the low point being Katrina (and a huge dollop of ineffective government since then on all levels). But you have no idea what a parade is scheduled to unfold tonight for the Saints on the streets of New Orleans. It will be like all the Mardi Gras parades all rolled up into one giant event. I will be down at the Ritz on Canal St. working for one of the Carnival organizations who are having their ball that night. I hope to catch a glimpse of the action from the upper floor. I guarantee your face will hurt from all the smiling and laughing you will experience....and then there's Mardi Gras next Tuesday. History is very much in the making; thanks to all who have supported us through thick and thin. Tuesday is being unofficially named 'Dat Tuesday'.
Make room 'cause there's plenty more fun to be had!

If Daltry was lip syncing he would have sounded better. And he missed his cue a couple of times, so there was no lip sync.

However, I agree on the air guitar. At least some of the time.

Saints

Looks like New Orleans really enjoying the Super Bowl win.

Maybe we should apply for some money like the banks to pay the utility bills.

Nice Weather?

SpyderMR wrote:

Hmmmmmmmm seems like another record breaking cold winter down there. Is it better than where I am? You bet, however for Florida the weather has sucked. Pretty bad when you have to scrape ice off a windshield in Tarpon Springs.
And it's from the Pan Handle to the Keys.

Dead coral in the Upper Keys shows signs of temperature stress. (Nature Conservancy / January 29, 2010)

http://wattsupwiththat.com/2010/02/01/record-cold-in-florida...

It's just supposed to be warm, at lest 70ish daily. The News Paper in St. Pete at one time would even give out a free paper if the sun failed to shine in a 24 hour period.

When the weather is nice then the bottom falls out and the high is 47, and the high in Cleveland is 32 who do you think is colder, I say you! because I know it's going to be cold and am well adjusted to it. maybe after`a couple weeks you also adjust, and high 40's and low 50's might seem warm to you who knows.

Thanks, we appreciate your well-wishes! Don't worry though, nobody gives those hot airbags any credit. They are just delusional do-nothings (and worse) propped up by their tiny circle of supporters that keep inflating the bag with more hot air. It was disgusting to see the termed-out mayor on TV in the audience during the most glorious of parades tonight for the Saints. His term won't end soon enough. Good riddance, what a national embarrassment.

Hi All

Greetings to All;
Before I continue my venture of learning more, I wanted ta stop by to say 'Hello' plus hope that everyone's day is better than their yesterday.
In my quest of learning the Garmin...255W and my recently purchased 1350...I'm still uncertain whih of the two I prefer using.
Have fun everyone, each and every day you awake. My hopes remain in which I can contribute to this site in order to give back for which you have shared.

Small earthquake

What a way to wake up.

A small earthquake in northern Illinois set off car alarms, knocked books off the shelves and jolted scores of people awake at 4 a.m. Wednesday, but otherwise caused no serious damage, officials said.

Hope things on the East

Hope things on the East coast start to settle down. All that snow is crazy. Of course, we don't get snow in SoCal.

of course not

Just mudslides, earthquakes, wild fires that burn up neighborhoods. Your right nothing as crazy snow.

However when it does snow here, I can shovel the snow off my driveway and sidewalks, my neighbors do theirs and the city does our Main and side streets, with the DOT taking care of the freeways. Then before you know it things are back to normal.

Darn NUVI 5000

I took a trip to my daughter's on Sunday- only 45 miles each way-- I turned on my NUVI when I left the house, when I arrived at my daughter's, it still had not found satellites. I left it on while there and when I left 4 hours later, it worked OK. It has done this several times before.

Google to Offer Super-Fast Net Service
BuzzPermalink By BRAD STONE
Published: February 10, 2010
SAN FRANCISCO — Google says it plans to get into the Internet access business.

In a post on its corporate blog, the search and advertising giant said it planned to build and test a high-speed fiber-optic broadband network capable of allowing people to surf the Web at 100 times the speed of most broadband connections. The trial could be offered to as many as 500,000 people.

“Our goal is to experiment with new ways to help make Internet access better and faster for everyone,” two Google product managers, Minnie Ingersoll and James Kelly, wrote in the blog post.

Google said that over the next six weeks, it would solicit proposals from communities interested in the service, and then announce trial communities later this year. It did not say when it expects the trial service to be up and running.

Google cited 3-dimensional medical imaging and quick, high-definition film downloads among the applications of such high-speed Internet access.

Since 2006, the company has operated its own wireless network in Mountain View, Calif., where it is headquartered. In 2008, it bid unsuccessfully for wireless spectrum in auctions held by the Federal Communications Commission.

Google has also been a strong advocate of so-called net neutrality. It has been pushing the Federal Communications Commission to adopt rules preventing Internet service providers from charging customers more for certain kinds of content on the Web.
