New Feature: My Favorite Files

When you're logged in at POI Factory, you'll now see "My Favorite Files" near the top right column.

The page lists POI files that you've downloaded in the past and makes it easier to find files that have been updated.

A file marked with "new" has been updated since the last time you downloaded it.

I didn't realize until tonight that new updated favorites are flagged for easy examination!!!

Way to go! That is Very helpful!

Thanks

Just a suggestion, but could you put the new flag in red or something that stands out. The black seems to blend in with the blue file name for these old eyes.

Do appreciate the job. It is a great and useful feature, and will save a lot of time searching for the files I want to update.

Thanks again for all your great work, Mary

Cool feature

Thanks JM for this new feature.

I've been away for a few weeks and I almost missed it. Maybe you could create a new Forum reserved to you and MissPOI for site Annoucements, that way we would not miss anything?

In the same vein, here's two more suggestion:

The profile software icon is cool, but we don't know which software is credited to that member. Could the software be listed on the member's profile? I know there's a software page on the FAQ, but it's hidden deep and there's no mention of the developer and if he's active on the site.

This might be a bit outside the scope of the web site, but a forum for all software related posts would be nice. I know a few developer use the site as one of there support sites, so that would keep them separate from the more mundane stuff in the Open Talk forum.

Just a few thoughts,

Thanks again for a great site, getting better all the time,

Simon

Thank You!!!!

Thank you for the new "My Favorites Files". What a great feature. It has really made a difficult task simple. Thanks again.

Such a time saver

Thank you so much for that tool. It is such a time saver and it helps me keep all the POI files I have downloaded up-to-date.

Thanks.

This is great - thanks.

My Favorites

Cool! Is there a way to automatically download the files in My Favorites, or do I need to select each one individually?

My Favorites

Good question asn I seem to have overwritten all my poi files in my nuvi 750 and I want them back (first in my computer and then in my nuvi!

Every time you download a file it is added to your favorites except for the red light and speed cameras.

The custom pois you created for the site are located in your user account.

I have had a few updates show up in my favorite list the last few days with the new color change.I want to thank Jon for this new feature. It has made a big difference in how we monitor our updates.Searching in the past through the forum with the latest updates spread among them was not a joyous event. Now that has all changed.A nice benefit for us the members.

Miss POI stopped eating salads, which is why Miss POI had to start going to the gym this year.

I am getting back in shape right now.

Some POIs not updating in My Favorites?

I downloaded the 'waterfall' POI file twice, and it doesn't show up in 'My Favorites'... are some POIs exempt? (or am I doing something wrong?)

I don't think there are any others that have been skipped, but didn't look really close yet.

Thanks,

The My Favorite Files feature is cool... but if you have more than a few favorites, it gets a bit cumbersome to click on each one. I was just hoping for a mechanism that let's me update my POI directory in one fell swoop.

Batch update.

See this post http://www.poi-factory.com/node/26847 .I have not tried the method yet because it has not been a real problem now that we have the files listed under favorites .Only have a few that seem to update a lot.

I've been Beta testing all versions of this utility.

It will allow you to download 100+ files in about two minutes. I found it best to use the user interface utility to set-up your control file. You can set-up the non-user interface utility for scheduled download.

I orginially wanted files to download with date in file name which is do-able with the program. I since found that to be a maintenance problem having multiple duplicate files with different dates in my folders. Now I download them without dates, it over-writes original file but no worries cause I don't edit files unless I need something special.

There is a benefit to using the utilty, it will download file and name it as you desire. It will even move bmp, and mp3 or wav files from a save (safe) folders to any poi folder as directed.

Silly boys! (to quote someone from here)

miss poi wrote:

Why would I release a totally finished product. I like to have you all in a constant mode of anticipation.

Miss POI

After a while, we are all like Pavlov's dogs (in a good way though) here! The anticipation or especially pleasant surprises are things that brighten one's day!

While I never asked about this latest functionality, I had always wondered about it, as I would go through the factory every few weeks wondering which of the 600+ files I've downloaded have been updated since the last time. Now, I can almost make this a "production process" leaving me more time to read and learn from everyone.

Thanks for a great add!

My Favorite Files

Hi,

Is there an option, using "my favorite Files" to select one or more and then do a download on the selected files?

You can download Extra Poi Editor at http://turboccc.wikispaces.com/Extra_POI_Editor .Connect gps to computer and go under file on Extra Poi Editor and select Open Garmin Favorites. Save them as a Garmin csv file and delete the ones you don't want. Then save them.

IS this part of the POI Factory

Hi,

What you are telling me to do; is this part of the POI FACTORY website?

Seems to me they should have an option that would allow to use there list, My favorites, to down load any of the chaged files.

Just like they allow me to maintain the list.
would work something like this.

Got to my favorites
select the ones I would like to use
then click a down load button; to make it happen.

Favorits

Are you asking about the ones on your gps or the favorites listed here in the poi factory. If it is the ones here no you can only download one at a time. Make a folder on your computor and download each one you want then you can load them to your gps through poi loader. or turboo's program.

My mistake.Thought you were talking about favorites you saved on the gps by you.Once you go to My Favorite files on Poi Factory it will be in red if a update has occurred then you can download the latest updates for that file. You can not select only certain ones from within that one file. You can't batch download more then one file at one time if that is what you want to do.There was a program by one of our users to do batch downloads.Haven't seen any comments on that latetly.

http://www.poi-factory.com/node/26847 has the instructions on how to use it. Great program for batch downloading POI files from here.

Yes poisync is nice but I have quit using it because several of the files I download are renamed slightly when they are updated here at POI Factory and thus do not match my get list used by my batch file.

Apparantly the list in "My Favorite Files" here at POI Factory is based on the POI's title rather than the file name, so that list works ok for me. I just watch the list for a "New" notice in red and download manually those that have been changed. Then I have to delete the older files on my computer that do not get overwritten because of the slight difference in the file name.

Totally awesome. Thanks for
