Proximity Alarm Help

I created a POI for my Garmin C330 with the following Format.

Long,Lat,Address,City

When I load it into the unit and select a location there is a proximity alarm set. I don't want this. How do I avoid this?

It seems the C330 does not like four column CSV's.

I'm using this format so that the data displays nicely on the screen.

Thanks,
Bill

Disabling Alert

If you use POI Loader, make sure to not use the express method. This puts in proximity and speed alerts automatically. Use the manual method and make sure to uncheck the proximity and speed alerts.

POI File Name???

You didn't mention the name of the POI file. If there is a number or @ in the POI file name it will create an alert (I believe it defaults to 1/4 mile).

Download POI File Verifier and it will notify you of the number in the file name and remove it on request.

I didn't mention the name since it exists only on my PC.

Number in POI Name

The POI file does not ONLY exist on your computer, it is also on your GPS. When using POI Loader, if the name of the file you're trying to upload from your computer containes an @ or number, it sets an alert for that POI when it's on the GPS; so the question I was asking was "Did the name of the POI on your computer contain a number?".

POI Loader Express mode does NOT automatically insert an alert, unless something tells it to ... like the following quoted directly FROM POI LOADER HELP:
POI Loader determines proximity alert information based on the following criteira, listed from highest to lowest priority:
1. Speed information included in the name of the individual Custom POI. For example, a POI named "SpeedZone@30" will have an alert speed of 30 regardless of the speed information specified in Manual mode or in the file name.
2.Speed information entered in Manual mode.
3.Speed information included in the file name. POI Loader interprets any numbers in the file name as speed information.

3.Proximity alert distance is then calculated by POI Loader based on speed information in the file name or in individual POI names.

As noted above via Garmin's priority rating, Manual mode will NOT disable an alert if the specific POI within the file specifies an alert.

Based on this information, and the previous posts, it appears you have a number in the POI file name , not in a POI within the file. If this is the case, just remove the number and you will remove the alert, then being able to load the POI in the Express mode with no alerts.
