Hallo every body and a happy new year.
How do I delete POI's and Custom POI's that are outdated or no longer active in order to save space. Got a nuvi 265 WT.
I hope you and yours have a Prosperous and Happy New Year.
You can and you can't. You can delete Custom POIs, just run whatever program you have for editing the type of POI files you use, either CSV or GPX. Delete the outdated files and reload them into your Nuvi.
The regular or factory POIs can't be deleted or changed by us. What you've got is what you are stuck with.
The built in POIs are part of the map data and cannot be edited, changed, nor deleted.
You can delete ALL your Custom POIs by deleting the POI.GPI file on the unit.
However, nether thing should be necessary. Custom POIs don't really take up that much space. You can see the size of the file when you access the GARMIN drive via Mass Storage Mode.
For extra memory, you can delete foreign language text, voice, and help files.
Also, deleting garmin jpg pictures will free up some space.
You will have to have many custom pois or pictures to get into memory problems, but I have run into this before.
You can try Search if you need additional information or post another question.
Use the Poi loader program from Garmin to delete the custom poi's. Its only function is to upload and delete custom poi's and will not affect preloaded poi's.
