Phone connection problems with the Nuvi 765T

Hi. I bought a 765t for my wife (she had her last one stolen) for Xmas, and was excited about the handsfree phone feature. I have a couple of problems with the unit: We were able to sync her phone up easily with the unit, and it shows all of her addresses etc....However, when we place a call, you have to transfer the audio to the cell phone, answer it, and then transfer it back to the unit. My guess is that I should hear the phone ringing on the other end and simply speak when the party answers. When it is connected (via the process above), the volume and connectivity are fine, and it works great......gotta get through this glitch though...thanks
