i have a magellen maestro 4000 it lost the firm ware
and everthing else out of it dose any one know where i can get a copy or will i just have to get rid of this thing

If that is really true, you have lost the underlying operating system and you have NO WAY to communicate with the device to re-load it. Thus, it is a "brick".

Yes, probably. Call Magellan first. If you are the first and/or registered owner, they may be able to help you out. Failing that, sell it for a couple of bucks (or give it away) to somebody who needs the case or screen.
If it is really THAT dead, how do you know it lost the software ?? Could be a power problem.
