If I remember correctly, Krispy Kreme has filed for bankrupcy.
Anyone know their status? I do know that a bunch of stores have shut down in an around Maryland.
Inquiring minds want to know.

Krispy Kreme was most definitely in financial (and SEC) trouble 4-5 years ago, however they are still in business and appear to be overcoming their problems with new executives in charge. Ex-CEO Scott Livengood is long gone, along with the executives that were involved in a number of illegal events - in particular off-balance-sheet "synthetic" leases and illegal franchise baybacks.
Krispy Kreme has over 500 locations worldwide, and operates in 20 U.S. states.
Their "Hot Doughnuts Now" sign always makes my mouth water! It's hard to beat a hot Krispy Kreme glazed doughnut coming right out of the deep fryer and the glazing conveyor... Ummm!
Politicians and Diapers must be changed often for the exact same reason...
Business Model Change
I think that they have changed their business model - they are closing the retail stores all the time. In Kansas they stock many grocery and gas stations now.
