Removing prior map versions from computer - how?

Does anybody know how to remove old version of maps and the software (without disturbing the operation of the newest map). I once posed the question to Garmin and they were not any help. Then, I tried to do it anyway, and had to reinstall from scratch. Now I am left with GB's of outdated maps taking space on my computer. They are of no use to me, and I would just like to get rid of the old ones. Does anybody have any ideas.

Thanks in advance.

Using xp all I do is go to

Using xp all I do is go to control panel,add/remove programs and delete the old one after I have installed the new one.Right now all I have showing is Garmin City Navigator North America NT 2010.20

I was told by Garmin

I was told by Garmin Software Support that when a new map update is loaded to the GPS memory the old map is deleted - much like when loading custom POIs, the previously loaded custom POIs are deleted.

In fact, Garmin support checked the amount of memory I was using in one of my GPS units before loading the 2010.20 update - and when it was checked again after loading the update the proper amount of memory matched the update size. Thus, there was no memory being used by the old map...or any portion of thr old map. The old map was deleted...

I agree with Charles

Go to the control panel . . . depending what version, add/remove programs or Uninstall a program or something similar . . . and just unintall it.

Yes, new maps replace the old one in your GPS when installed normally. But when new maps are installed on your computer to be used by Mapsource, all old maps are kept until they're uninstalled as described by others. This is useful as it lets you do side by side comparisons of areas to see what's changed between map versions.

To summarize:
GPS--old maps are replaced with the new
Computer--old maps are kept and new ones added

Gotcha - I missed the

Gotcha - I missed the reference to both Mapsource and computer...was only thinking about the GPS unit.

So much for speed-reading!
