Aruba

Just came back from Aruba and driving around is great. It is easy, every law is broken without any tickets being given etc. You cannot get lost, but there are few cars compared to our cities. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted,

Hope ya had a good time.

I want to go somewhere in the Caribbean - but Aruba kinda turned me off after that whole Natalie Holloway thing and the way the govt there dealt with the issue

Agree

I'm with you. If I was going to the Caribbean, it wouldn't be to Aruba out of respect to Natalie and her family.

I went in 2002

I loved it. I agree the driving is great. A ton of little places to visit and you really cannot get lost.

Aruba

My wife and I visited there in 2006. Had a great time, but probably won't return. Too many other unexplored places to see!

Have a great day, everyone.

I'm witholding my tourist dollars

I've had friends who've gone and said it's amazing. I do feel that the island's government, to a degree, protected the girl's accused killer(s).

Yes they do but the GPS cannot route you in it, just shows your current location.

You can download it from here:

I've been going to Aruba for 25 years now, had a timeshare there and now own a condo that was built 2 years ago.

if you need someone to to take up space for a while in your condo or maybe just watch it for a couple of weeks to make sure it is alright, would be happy to volunteer, even though it would be a tough job that we might just be willing to suffer through. wink

Aruba is one of the most up to date islands and certainly one of the safest in the Caribbean. Other than that one story, what negative information have you read about Aruba.

The local administration there seemed to cover up the whole situation pretty badly in that 1 incident. I think if a bad situation arose there - one would have trouble trusting the police/judges/legal system there. But, your milage may vary....

For an excellent, routable(and free!) map of Aruba for Garmin, suggest you download Venrut from GPSYV.NET.
