Streets & Trips 2010

I don't know if this has been discussed yet - I couldn't find anything when I did a search.

I just bought the new MS Streets & Trips (2010). 2 new things that I really like:
1. It is much easier to ask for an alternate route now. MS has finally gone the Google Maps way. If you want an alternate route, you just drag the existing route to a point on the alternate route you want. It creates a way point and recalculates. Much easier than the old way where you had to find a city or coordinates on the road you wanted S&T to take
2. SEND TO GPS: You can now create a route with MS S&T and send it to your GPS (USB if it is connected to your PC or MSN to do it wireless (if your unit supports it)). What it does for me (NUVI 750) is transfer all the way points from the route on S&T 2010 to my Favorites on the Garmin. I can then easily create a route on my Garmin with each of the points. It would have been better if the route was created automatically by Garmin but that's a start.

Microsoft has finally realized that there are other GPS units out there and decided to join the group instead of making it difficult as before

Cheers

Jean

Thanks.

Very helpful insights - thanks.

It's been discussed and one of the neat things would be to implement the display on BING Maps. From the maps you can send the route directly to the GPS (if you have MSN) where it will be loaded as a route and not waypoints in Favorites. You have to do this wirelessly as the USB transfer loads waypoints.

S&T 2010 map database is not as up to date as MapSource 2010.20

I have found with S&T 2010 that the map database is missing quite a number of the newer streets and subdivisions in the Tucson area that are included in the Garmin 2010.20 map database that is now installed in my MapSource install.

The program and features and the GUI have really been improved from the earlier versions that I used in the past and it will take some time with it to identify all the improvements.
