265WT SD/SDHC Card

My problem has been trying to find information on the biggest SD/SDHC card I could use with the 265WT and found this:

"Question: What's the Secure Digital (SD) card recommended for my nüvi or zumo?
Answer:

As long as your nuvi or zumo has the latest version of software, it will be compatible with all SD and SDHC datacards. While SDHC datacards are available in a variety of storage sizes and speeds, we only recommend using a maximum of 16GB SDHC cards.

To download the latest unit software visit our website: www.garmin.com/webupdater

Note: Depending on the model of your nuvi or zumo it may use either a full size SD card or a microSD card. If you are not sure which your nuvi requires, please refer to its documentation.

So who of the 265WT users are using a 16gb card and any problems? And what size card are you using and what format Fat32 or NTFS?

TIA

What in the world are you planning to put on the card?

I don't have a 265WT, but instead a 255. I use a 2GB MicroSD, which has many times the memory I need for multiple Custom POIs with sound and BMP files. The entire North America NT 2010 map along with the included 6 million POIs is only 2GB in size. I can't imagine why you would possibly need a card with more than 1GB or 2GB of memory.

What in the world are you planning to put on the card - the entire world with every single POI?

I'd used to be

I'd used to be you could fill a big card up with MP3 music files and audible books but on the 265 and other newer Nuvi's you can't even to that anymore.

Since this is our first GPS, didn't want to run out of room. I guess I could get the 4gb size card and try and fill that. grin

Now it'll be less $$ for a smaller card.

thanks

It will be hard

It will be hard to fill a 2 GB card as there are limits to the number of titles the units can handle. I've got about 20 albums on my 2G card with all my custom POI and additional map files. I still have room plus even more in the unit memory if needed.

SD Card Memory

I have a 4gb SD card. I keep contour maps for all of Texas, Missouri, and part of New Mexico. I also have my POIs and some photos on it. I have used 776mb.

Memory card size

I personally can't see any reason for a card larager than 4 Gb. You might need more than one (one for europe maps, one for asian maps, etc...)
