My nuvi 255W doesn't talk for redlight camera

I downloaded the Redlight-Cameras.csv file. Then I downloaded a bmp and an mp3 file, and renamed them to Redlight-Cameras.bmp and Redlight-Cameras.mp3, respectively. I then moved them to the same directory for subsequent download to my nuvi 255W.

Well, when I approach a red light camera intersection, all that I get is a bong-bong - no voice. The voice plays fine on the download site, but not at all on my 255W. The turn message voices are all fine on my 255W. Does this Garmin model not support add-on mp3 files?

You need sox.exe and wav files

The 2x5 series does not support MP3 alerts. You need to use a program named sox.exe along with .wav alert files. Just do a search on this forum for sox and wav and you will find lots of posts that tell you how to do it. Or visit Gary Hayman's Tips and Tricks site: http://home.comcast.net/~ghayman3/garmin.gps/.
