thanks

Thanks for the info.

Only problem is that ya gotta wait all night.

I can't wait!

I can't wait!

is it worth it

To me, it would have to be something super awesome for a large savings to stand outside all night in front of a store.

no standing may be needed

Many of the on-line retailers get in on Black Friday too. Some even start on Wednesday. I got a Nuvi 250 last year on Wednesday for $99.99, shipped free, from Newegg. On Thursday or Friday (I forget which), Dell had a 205W for $120 (including shipping).

Black Friday

Online may be the way to go. Sometimes the stores will only have two or three items at the low advertised price.

Black Friday

Black Friday will only be the start of the selling wars for this Christmas season. Looking at the current weekend sales, the price on electronic goodies is dropping every week. I agree that online buying maybe the way to go as I hate to stand in lines and get up earlier than 5 AM.

Would be nice if someone would offer a deal on Lifetime Maps™

black friday, wait in line, ycch

did the black Friday a few times, some the gps deals I have heard about are not worth it.

sorry for the dup

The Fine Print

Unfortunately when some store advertise such low prices on particular items, they only have a few in stock. Once those are sold, then there are no more at that price. These are leader items intended to get the consumer to the store. To me it is not worth the wait or hassle to get something at an inexpensive price that might not be there when you finally get into the store. Right now stores needs sales and they will continue to drop or maintain low pricing to get consumers to buy.

online

Yes, online Black Friday deals are the best. I bought a 30 GB Zune for $80 2 years ago for an online Black Friday deal.

not bad

Not bad. But a GS sale doesn't help me, as I already have one now razz

I got my Garmin Nuvi last

I got my Garmin Nuvi last year on Black Friday. I got a super good deal. I never really thought I needed one since you can get directions online easily; however, for the price I got mine at (I believe $69) I figured it was worth it. Now that I have it I've obviously learned that there is so much more to a GPS unit than just directions from point A to point B. Now I don't know what I'd do without it! One of my favorite features is the ability to easily just press 'detour' when there is construction. It seems like there's always construction or something going on where I live, so it comes in handy. I also like being able to see when my ETA is when I'm heading somewhere, especially when I'm heading to appointments. Although, I am a little disappointed in how it doesn't seem to take into account red-lights with my GPS unit. It seems like every time I get stuck at a light for a minute, my ETA also inreases by a minute, so it's a lot less accurate when I'm travellign on side streets.

Anyway, maybe this year I'll get a GPS for my mom for Christmas if I am one of the lucky ones to get one on Black Friday. She's horrible with directions even when the has them printed/written out.

Got to be a smart shopper, things don't fall in your lap

Then your not a smart shopper, there is nothing more I can say. If you read over the ad's you will find fantastic deals, if you don't then you won't.

If you are a smart shopper you don't have to wait until BLACK FRIDAY. You can find just as good bargains or almost as good throughout the year online and watching ads. People get so hyped up about the few door busters that have a limited availability and are lower end models. Unless you like to get up at 3am and stand in the cold in a line to save a few bucks to me it is just not worth the time and effort. Generally Costco and reputable online sites will have as good if not better pricing throughout the year on many items. But then again...to each his/her own...

Maybe Not This Year

You may not find as many great deals this season as compared to last season.

Retailers are cutting their inventories.

Condescension not necessary

Many people have found Black Friday Deals not living up to the hype, especially since so many of the "big deals" are in very limited quantities and are basically there to get people in the door and buy other items. If someone thinks Black Friday deals are not worth it or even if they find it worth it to themselves; I wouldn't be presumptuous enough to say they aren't "smart shoppers."
That is inappropriate and unnecessary.

To each their own, if your past experience with Black Friday has been favorable, then by all means go for it. If not, enjoy some leftovers and more family time if you have the day off.

Wal Mart

I did not need a GPS but I did need a USB external hard drive. I was really surprised at WM employees lack of knowledge at 5 this morning. An employee gave me the wrong one. By the time I went through the check-out, and discovered the error, the right ones were gone. Oh well.

Black Friday

With the prices so low on the GPS's one should buy one of each and then decide what's best for him/her..

Legs

Went to Wal-mart for hard drive also.

I went in to my local WM this morning at 8:00 not really expecting to find any, thought I might get lucky and find one in tne wrong place. Much to my surprise, there were 3 of them out on a shelf in the camera dept. I grabbed one and checked it out to make sure it was the right one, then headed for the check out. Everything on the box looked to be correct, but the model number did not match the number in the ad. I have a feeling there is a typo in the ad or WM got the wrong model in.

No Way

There is no way I'll wait in any of those lines.

I observed Black Friday

by staying away from the sales & crowds. I'll wait and add my stimulus to the economy and pay full price. My daughter went to the Mall of America this morning, reported normal Saturday crowds.

Target was Insane!

They had 40" LCD HDTV's for $449.
There was a massive line of people walking out with those big red APEX boxes.

We went next door to Kohls. I bought 4 sport coats for $50 each, doorbuster marked down from $200 each. The Mrs. had a $50 coupon, and they gave us another $50 coupon that has to be used by Dec 6.

We don't do any of that 4AM stuff. We went to the stores at 8AM and were back home by 9:30. Spent the afternoon putting up our tree and house decorations.

sales

We bought a Sony 40" LCD tv for my parents for their christmas gift. Walmart has some great deals on tvs. And, amazingly enough, they still had many electronic items on sale even at 10am. All the laptops, computers and tvs... All still had some left...

Maybe Wal-Mart over prepared this year at my local store...
