There has to be an easier way - forum lists

Ok, so I go and post a topic or reply to one. It automatically takes me back to the thread. Now, to get back to the particular forum that I want I have to click on the "Discussion" tab at the top of the page to get back and start all over. If I simply use the link, then it takes me back, but shows all text of the thread. I just want to be able to see the headings as you do when you first go into that forum.

It would be nice if the discussion was powered by phpBB. I love their format. Very user friendly. However, I do like "My Discussions" option on here.

Any suggestions?

Suggestion

The admins spend a great deal of time and money on this site so let's be THANKFUL for what we have.

What works for me is just to

What works for me is just to click the "unread posts" link either under my name or at the bottom of the page. Then I get a list of new posts without having to go to the individual forums.

forum views

I agree -- the forum lists are pretty awkward. They're the standard ones that come with the content management system.

It may not be quite what you're looking for, but the "unread posts" feature is an easy way to read through all of the new material. When you're logged in, it shows under your user name in the top right column.

Feedback is always appreciated, and it does shape the direction we take as we're making improvements.

Have you looked at phpBB?

I frequent a few forums that use it - it seems to be a decent program.

PHPBB is free, so couldn't cost more than what's in use here.

I have to agree that after

I have to agree that after using PHPBB I find it difficult navigating here sometimes. But, it is a great site so I don't let it stop me from visiting.

Unread Posts

I agree with Motorcycle Mama. I as well am finding this an easier way to read the new posts also. Clicking the "unread posts"

Well said

I too quickly learned the "unread posts" trick here.

In any case, it is the quality of the content, not the delivery system that counts. This is a great board no matter what software is used.

Thanks to JM, Miss Poi and anyone else involved in running it!

vBulletin

I prefer vBulletin over PHPBB myself.

vBulletin not only lists unread threads or threads with new posts, it will take you right to the first unread post in a selected thread.

I do agree however that some layout changes would make this place even better than it is now. smile
