Don't be jealous. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and have lived and traveled to many places and it is hard to beat where you live. The Fall colors soon turn to snow here in Illinois and the Winter is gray and way to long. That being said it is beautiful for a few weeks here.

East Tennessee Fall Update

The weather in East Tennessee has been wet. Some of the leaves are slightly changing on some of our maple trees and you can tell that some trees are getting ready to shed their leaves. There are no drastic color changes, yet, but we are expecting them soon. Hopefully the wet weather from this summer will provide us with some really good color changes in the Smokies.

Thanks for that one

Looking forward to my annual trip through the apple orchards around Gays Mills in a couple weeks.

Very nice area, I was born in Viroqua and lived in Soldiers Grove for a year.

East Tennessee Fall Update

Do you think that the colors will be good this year. Planning on crossing the Smokies starting in Gatlinburg to Cherokee,NC in the second week of Oct.

I'm looking for the same

I'm looking for the same thing but somewhere on the west coast. Does anyone know where I can see colorful fall foliage in the West and when the best time to visit is?

I thought I could see it in Seattle, WA or somewhere in Washington state but Opencanoepaddler says that it isn't colorful.

It's all a crap shoot...

...but you'll have plenty of company in the Smokies that time of year. The place should be jammed (I was there for Fall foliage in mid-October three years ago. It's also a peak month every year for them). You should plan on getting on to the roads early in the morning if you want to avoid a lot of traffic jams.

Fall here in Phoenix

It was 79 degrees this morning with a breeze. So Fall is officially here. I also noticed some of the cacti needles are changing color.
