loading POI file to MagSource NT 2020.2

copied a low clearance file in gpx format from POI factory i believe -- using garmins POI loader program -- loaded the file on to (in to ??) the 765 -- and verified that the POI points were there -- repeated the same process pointing the POI loader to MapSource -- get a message that whatever number of points have been successfully transferred -- but i cannot find them in MapSource -- if i navigate to the co-ordinate location of a specific POI point -- there is nothing there -- and nothing with the file name i attached to the imported POI list shows up anywhere -- that i can see --

what am i missing ??

many thanks

POI loader does not transfer to Mapsource

Correct me if I am wrong, but I do not think that you can transfer anything to Mapsource with the POI loader. When you start POI loader it will ask for a GPS device. If it doesn't find one it will give you an error message. If you have your GPS device connected, POI loader will transfer the POIs to the GPS and you will get a message saying it successfully transferred the POIs.
What you need to do is open the POI GPX file from within Mapsource and then it will display the POIs on your Mapsource map.

Yep.

Despite the fact that POI Loader has an option to "create a file for MapSource", MapSource does not have the ability to open .GPI files.

It seems that the POI Loader developers and the MapSource developers are not eating the same M&Ms. smile

Opening the GPX files is the only current way to get Custom POIs in MapSource.

many thanks -- i opened the

many thanks -- i opened the POI file and there they are -- several questions if i may -- do i just save this as a "trip" and open it any time i want to route with this POI list -- is there a way to incorporate the POI list into MapSource at this point --

appreciate your insights into how to effectively use this information --

.

MapSource will open GPX files directly. So you need ,be sure that the files are in that format (convert them if necessary).

Then if you are looking to create, save, and load a ROUTE to your GPS unit, you will need to use the Routing Tool in MapSource and incorporate the locations into the route and then load that to the unit with the "Send to Device" button in MapSource.
